Caring for Indigenous people with Dementia in remote areas

A half hour DVD accompanied by 24 page booklet. The aim of this resource is to educate health professionals about professional and cultural issues when caring for indigenous people in the Northern territory. The video features interviews with professionals and researchers discussing the unique needs and challenges of working in this field along with images of indigenous people living with dementia, their families and communities. Returning Figures

In 2005 South Australian artist and one of Australia’s foremost public sculptors Greg Johns was commissioned to produce 13 large scale sculptures to be installed on the island of Ibiza, Spain. This is the largest public art commission ever undertaken by an Australian artist in Europe & this film follows the conception, construction and installation of the sculptures as well as delving into the artist’s deepest motivations and touching on the history and culture of Ibiza. Launched at the South Australian Art Gallery & screened on ABC national television. YouTube link

Balfours city site 1910 - 2003

In 2004 Balfours Bakery the last major factory in Adelaide’s city centre left it’s home of more than ninety years for a new home in the suburbs. This video documents the old factory and the main baking processes whilst workers, some with more than 50 years service with Balfour’s, discuss their memories of their lives with Balfours and their aspirations for the future. Warriparinga Walk Mural

Follows the creation of an aerosol art mural aimed at building mutual respect among the community and aerosol artists, as well as between Kaurna Aboriginal heritage and culture and European Settlement. Through a series of workshops participants were informed of local history, became involved in the design of the mural and learnt aerosol art skills. The resultant mural is a stunning piece of artwork that recognizes and pays homage to various aspects of Warriparinga. Commissioned by Government of South Australia & Marion City Council. The Path of Totality

An independent production that celebrates the 2002 total solar eclipse that passed over South Australia. This documentary is comprised of more than 30 interviews with eclipse chasers, a live CSIRO broadcast from the path of totality, footage of the eclipse itself and animations explaining some of the science behind a total eclipse of the sun. The Path of Totality is fast paced and the wide variety of characters interviewed provide elements of humour, drama and excitement. YouTube link

Nothing Short of a Miracle

Documents and promotes the many and varied programs the Hackham West Community Centre offers it’s community. The staff, volunteers and community participants tell the story of the centre and the positive place it has in their lives. Telling Stories

The ‘Telling Stories’ pilot project was a joint initiative between the South Australian Education Department and Arts SA. It involved Aboriginal artists visiting primary and high schools and demonstrating how storytelling can be used to pass on and develop knowledge and culture. The video captures the workshops that were conducted in a variety of artistic disciplines and the reaction of teachers and students to the project. YouTube link

Red Rags to a Bully

This video discusses the various effects of and strategies for tackling workplace bullying. A variety of people who have experienced workplace bullying as well their families and government and union officials talk openly about the problem. Red Rags To A Bully also follows the creation of a community play about workplace bullying. Commissioned by Workcover and the Bullied Workers Support Action Network and supported by United Trades and Labour Council, Business SA, Office of the Employee Ombudsman and Working Women’s Centre.
